LIC believe better cows will improve dairy industry

This year, Fonterra forecast for the first that milk supply was going to be down three to four per cent.  This is a significant forecast and some in the industry believe it is because of the climatically challenging year and slower cow population growth.


For the last 23 years cow numbers grew by 100,000 cows a year.  However, that growth has now halted. It is argued that more efficient dairy cows will keep New Zealand’s dairy industry moving forward.
